This is my early production, 1965
Mustang. After searching for several months for a classic car in
decent condition, I had all but given up when my dad heard that the now
late James Darland was selling his Mustang. Mr. Darland had a
reputation for keeping his cars in great condition so we went to check it
out. I instantly fell in love with the car but having been let down
many times before, I tried not to get my hopes up, but when my dad said
this was the peach we'd been looking for, I was elated! Being
only 15 at the time, my dad drove it home and taught me to drive.
Soon after that I passed my driving test and discovered the
perks and quirks of driving a classic car everyday to high school.
"Sally" as she is lovingly called, has survived countless rowdy
passengers, being keyed down to the metal, her brakes going out several
times, and about a million other little problems. But those are the
things that make having Sally fun. There is never a dull car ride or
a day that I don't learn something new about her. I have to thank
Gary Trent jr. and everyone else that has worked so hard to make Sally
look and run so great. Sally has now retired from daily driver
status and being parked in dangerous parking lots. I do however,
drive her whenever I am home from college. This car is my
passion and in November of 2002 I got a Mustang tattoo to prove it!
I love being a member of GCCM because it has given my whole family an
opportunity to enjoy this amazing Mustang!

We are the 2nd owners of our 66
Fastback. The original owner is from Temple, Texas. He sent 3
children through High School in this car. The last one got it
rear-ended. It stayed in their side yard for 8 years. Then
they tried to repair it. Let it sit for more years. Finally
pulled it to the salvage yard. We bought it in February of 1999, loaded
it up on our trailer and took it to C & V Restoration in Webb City,
Mo. It took about 9 months. It has Custom Paint, Custom Interior,
Custom Exterior, and Custom Wheels. It was a 289 engine beefed up to 350.
C-3 Auto tranny. 8"Ford rear end. Power Steering. Air
cond. Disk front and Drum rear Brakes. All new crome, and the dash is all
new.
The car has many Wins, Best Paints, and
Best of Shows. Started showing the car in Spring of 2000.
